There are now quite a few books in this series. Perhaps what that one book developed into was unexpected even by the author, Diana Gabaldon, herself. Little did I know what was coming, with this long Outlander series that was totally unexpected. Even the author herself says she can’t describe her own book in 25 words or less. Or, more specifically as a historical romance. At the time, I thought of it as a romance book. I read Outlander back in 1991 when it was originally published in the U.S.
